Who’s Plans?

Do you ever feel as if things just aren’t going the way you had planned?  What about the plans you have made taking a complicated turn of events before they are accomplished?

Last year, my son received an arcade style basketball set for his birthday.  I attempted to put that thing together once and it had so many pieces and the instructions were so vague.  I gave up!   However, this weekend the boys worked hard to get their room cleaned and so I decided we would try it again.  I identified each piece, accounted for every tool, and read the instructions.  Then we prayed.  My two older sons and I circled around those pieces and prayed that we could accomplish the task at hand.

I set out to attach piece A to piece B and so on.  There were times when I would have to start over, or reconfigure.  Or just take a break.  At one time, my oldest son, Ben, told me that I should probably give up and let Daddy do it, but I just responded, “Challenge accepted”.

In more time than I would even care to admit, the monstrosity was completely assembled.  I felt really accomplished and my boys are impressed.  This reminded me of a portion of Proverbs 16, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

A lot of time in life we are faced with things that do not go according to our plans; they don’t happen the way we want them to happen or we feel that we have taken the scenic route to get to our destination.  But this verse is our promise. If we commit those things to the Lord, he will establish our plans.

If you do a word study from the original text, you will find that “establish” means to arrange.  God is already making the arrangements for the plans we commit to Him! Be encouraged today, things may not be going your way, but just know that God is making arrangements for plans! And according to Jeremiah 29:11, those plans are good!  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Lord, You have numbered our days and made them good.  All things good come from You and we are blessed. Help us to always remember that You are good and extend grace to us even when we cannot see it.  Let us feel You always near. In Your Name, Amen.

Tif – I sure had fun playing with Deven on the “Monstrosity” when I visited last week.
Good job!!! It reignited my LOVE of basketball. I even watched some of the NCAA playoffs (for the first time in about twenty years) that weekend.

The week before, David had come over to help me put together a bookshelf from Homemaker’s. We had both given up at one point. The instructions were a joke.
I thought of you several times, thinking I would ask you to do it next time you are up!
——-> I have great confidence in you, and so does our Lord. <——-
I mustered up all of the determination that I could, and got it done, after sitting in a chair & staring at it and praying. FInally.

Looking forward to your next post.
